| | I'm not quite sure if anyone is reading this thing anymore, since I rarely update it-sorry about that to those of you who do read it. Anyways, here's a little update:
One year down, a lifetime to go! Stephen and I celebrated our one year anniversary on July 22, 2007 by taking a nice long weekend in Cincinnati. We had so much fun visiting the Newport aquarium, eating at nice restaurants such as the Montgomery Inn and Mitchell's Fish Market, going to a Reds game, and visiting the science and history museum where we watched an Omnimax movie about sending robots to Mars and walked through a real Pirate exhibit! God has been so gracious, not just for giving us an amazing weekend to enjoy each other without any other obligations, but to have guided us through our first year of marriage with little difficulty. Of course, we know that our commitment to each other must strengthen (by the power of Christ alone) with each passing year, because the spiritual warfare will get more intense with each passing year. Praise the Lord for my amazing husband, who is my best friend, my lover, my companion, my partner in ministry, and the person who will always laugh at how corny we are ("It's good....")
I started a new job today. Some of you know that I have been wanting to work as a full-time editor for the past year, rather than as a full-time receptionist. Well, God has blessed me with the opportunity to stay within the company's family while editing for Memoria Press, which publishes textbooks for Highlands Latin School (a local Christian school), and get a decent pay raise! Awoohoo to that! Please pray that my transition goes well, and that I will learn the new design program fairly quickly. I'm excited to be challenged at work!
Also, please keep Stephen in prayer as he is juggling work at Starbucks (as a shift supervisor), work as our church's worship leader, and work as a student (he's taking intro to music ministry, systematic theology, and .... Greek-yikes!). If you know Stephen, you know that he tends to keep a full plate (sometimes overflowing) so pray that he'll stay focused on the Lord, and still set aside time to pursue me. Our church is going through the Song of Solomon right now, so that is good timing !
On a sadder note, my uncle passed away yesterday. I'm not sure if he was a Christian, or if my surviving aunt is one, so please keep that situation in prayer. I am praying that the death of one of their closest friends will have my parents thinking about their own mortality. Pray that Stephen and I, or anyone, will be an instrument in comforting them during this time with the love and hope of Jesus Christ.
Thanks for reading, Jennifer
